Parks Victoria will be conducting a rabbit control program from 12th of February 2018 until 1st June 2018 on land managed by Parks Victoria which forms part of the Lower Yarra Parklands.

The affected land includes any properties managed by Parks Victoria on the north or south side of the Yarra River from Yarra Flats Park, Ivanhoe upstream to Westerfolds Park, Templestowe. Carrot baits containing the POISON ‘Pindone’ will be used.

Notices will be displayed at entrance points to land subjected to control programs. This baiting procedure involves minimal risk to non-target species. If you live nearby, it’s recommend that you keep your pets restrained or out of the area at all times.

If you have a floppy-eared friend at home, we recommend keeping them within their hutch. For dog owners, please keep your four-legged pals on a leash when going for walkies around affected parklands.

Please note that the ingestion of poisoned carrot baits or rabbit carcasses should be treated by your local vet with the antidote Vitamin Kl (Phlomenadione).

Please share with the local pet community to keep everyone safe!
